The Matlab Graphical Interface

A Matlab-based point-and-click interface to OPeNDAP-enabled, Earth science data archives. The user uses the GUI to select a data set, to identify the variables and spatial and temporal ranges of interest and to acquire the data which are delivered to the Matlab workspace. Once acquired the GUI may be used to display the data or the user may use standard Matlab commands to display and manipulate them.

The package, as of 12 August 2004, is configured for access to more than 50 oceanographic, meteorological, and land cover gridded data sets and approximately 20 climate indices. In addition, the user may, from the NVODS site, update the list of data sets for which the GUI is configured as well as configure the GUI for access to other data sets available via OPeNDAP.

13 December 2004 Updated User's Guide. An updated version of the ML GUI User's Guide is now available. This guide is a great supplement to the on-line help system which has some problems running on older versions of MatLab.

Known problems with this release:

Win32: On-line help does not always work for Matlab 7; Problems displaying select graphics associated with the data in the browse window (the browse window does not get properly cleared before being repainted). This problem does not affect the data returned, only they way selections are shown in the browser window.
Mac OS/x: On-line help does not always work for Matlab 7.
Linux/Unix: On-line help does not always work for Matlab 6 and earlier.
