Ncview
is a visual browser for netCDF format files developed by David W.
Pierce. The ncdump utility comes with the netCDF library as
distributed by Unidata.
Both of these applications are file viewers which can be used to
look at data from most of our servers. There are some limits to what
these programs can do with station data, but for raster (i.e., array
) data they will display just about anything.
One caveat: ncdump is not a good program to use for
fetching large volumes of array data. It will read each row of an
array using a separate access to the remote server. If you want to
see a dump of values in ASCII from a server, use a web browser and
the ASCII feature of the server.
