Where do we believe the NVODS effort should be in two years?
- It should have 4 to 5 pilots with significant use from different groups
representative of the communities that we are trying to serve. These groups
need not be large but they should be obtaining significant benefit from using
the system. They should serve as specific examples of the capability of NVODS.
- The DAP should be accepted as a data access "standard" by the oceanographic
community in general and ocean.us in particular and there
should be a number of non-NOPP funded groups routinely writing both client
and server software for the system.
- The number of system users should be increasing rapidly both in
the research and management communities.
- A non-profit consortium with significant community buy-in should
have formed and be responsible for developing and maintaining the DAP.
