Why OPeNDAP?

Replacing DODS with OPeNDAP underlines:

the discipline-independent nature of the DAP ==> ~~Oceanographic~~

the focus on only one part of an end-to-end system ==> ~~System~~, DAP only, and

the open source nature of the effort.

A not-for-profit with this specific focus gives us more control over the acquisition and expenditure of funds.

The formation of a not-for-profit allows us to broaden the scope of participation.
