The oceanographic user community may be divided into 5 main groups:
- ==> planners and managers with a need
to access mid and high level ocean data products using a broad range of tools (from
low end web browser interfaces to high end GIS packages),
- ==> the (international)
scientific community desiring access to the entire range of data and data products (from
low level data to high level data products) via the entire range of data analysis tools
(from low end web browser interfaces to high end analysis packages),
- STUDENTS ==> the educational community with a need to
access data and data products at all levels as well as analysis tools at all levels,
the level depending of course on the level of the students involved,
- JANE Q. PUBLIC ==> the lay public often interested in the
highest level data productsaccessed via mid to high end web browser interfaces, and
- G.I. JOE ==> the military, primarily the Navy requiring
access to data at all levels.
