This directory contains the source code distribution for the latest DODS beta release, version 3.1.x. It also contains directories for each platform for which a binary distribution is available. ------------------------------ Binary Distribution ----- Please go to the subdirectory appropriate for your platform. The README file there will give you details on the files available. sparc-sun-solaris2.6 --> directory containing binary distribution(s) for Sun SPARC Solaris machines. Built on Solaris 2.6. ------------------------------ Source Code Distribution ----- The source code distribution is split into a number of seperate components. Download the components appropriate for your needs as well as the required components. Here are the files available with descriptions of the component it contains and notes on requirements. DODS-dap-3.1.3.tar.gz --> the DODS DAP (Data Access Protocol). This component is required by all DODS software. DODS-packages-3.1.1.tar.gz --> the third party software used by the DODS core. It is required by all DODS software (see Note below). DODS-asciival-3.1.2.tar.gz --> the DODS asciival tool. asciival is a tool that transforms DODS data into an ASCII delimited format. It is a useful tool for testing and debugging and is also used by DODS servers to provide data in ascii format. Required for all servers. DODS-www-interface-3.1.2.tar.gz --> the DODS www-interface. the WWW interface is used by each DODS servers to provide a basic interface to all data served by DODS. Required for all servers. DODS-dsp-dods-3.1.2.tar.gz --> the DODS DSP server. DODS-ff-dods-3.1.3.tar.gz --> the DODS FreeForm server. DODS-hdf-dods-3.1.2.tar.gz --> the DODS HDF-EOS server. DODS-jg-dods-3.1.1.tar.gz --> the DODS JGOFS server and client library. DODS-math-dods-3.1.1.tar.gz --> the DODS Matlab server. DODS-nc3-dods-3.1.1.tar.gz --> the DODS netCDF server and client library. DODS-idl-cmdln-3.1.1.tar.gz --> the DODS IDL command line tool. DODS-ml-cmdln-3.1.1.tar.gz --> the DODS Matlab command line tool. DODS-ml-gui-3.1.0.tar.gz --> the DODS Matlab GUI. For any support questions, please contact support@unidata.ucar.edu ------------------------------ Note: Third-party packages: This code includes the www library from the W3C (libwww), the Tcl/Tk libraries, a regular expression library (librx), and libz. (Depending on what you are building, other third party software may be required. For instance, HDF is required to build the DODS HDF server.) The libwww, librx, and libz libraries are required by DODS. The Tcl/Tk libraries are used to provide a GUI for error messages and are optional.
