FTP a custom DODS binary tar file

A tar file containing the DODS binaries, along with third party software, that you requested is contained in #tar-file#. The file contains #tar-file-size# bytes. To transfer the binaries, click on the file name. We will keep the tar file for 1 day on our system.

What to do once the transfer is complete

Once transfer is complete, move the tar file to the directory where you would like to put the DODS root directory. Some likely choices are /usr/local/, /usr/local/src/, your home durectory, ... Note that the DODS root directory itself will be created automatically. Now expand the tar file using `#comptool# -d -c #tar-file# | tar -xf -'. This will create a small directory tree with clients in the `bin' subdirectory, libraries in `lib' and servers in `etc' and third-party software in `packages'.

The DODS/ and DODS/etc/ directories will contain several README and INSTALL files depending on what software you have requested. These will contain information and directions for installing the DODS software. All the README and INSTALL files for DODS are also available on the web.
